One-off Test cricketers Beau Casson and Chris Rogers will both make Sheffield Shield returns after long absences when NSW and Victoria meet at the MCG starting on Friday.
Left-arm spinner Casson, whose sole Test came against the West Indies in June 2008, has been out of the Blues' first-class side since November 2009.
But injuries to Nathan Hauritz and Stephen O'Keefe have provided an opening in the top-placed NSW side for the MCG clash.
Veteran Victorian opener Rogers, who played his lone Test against India in January 2008, has been sidelined by a knee injury since October last year.
He returns with his state's quest for a third successive Shield title all but over.
With three games to play, the fourth-placed Bushrangers are 12 points shy of second-placed Tasmania, and a further four points behind NSW.
"Obviously it's a bit frustrating we're not closer to the top two," Rogers said.

"But that's how it's gone this year, there's been a bit of a change in personnel and we've lost some players to higher honours, which is what we've hoped for.
"I think these things are going to go in cycles, so we have to be a little bit realistic about where we're at."
With captain Cameron White and vice-captain David Hussey in India with Australia's World Cup squad and allrounder Andrew McDonald injured, batsman Aaron Finch will lead Victoria.
Casson, 28, said it had been challenging fighting back after dropping from Test status to a long stint battling away in club cricket.
"It's been an interesting ride but those sort of times are set out to test you and see what you are made of," he said.
"It was a testing time and I'm sure there will be more testing times ahead."
The Blues also included impressive 17-year-old quick Patrick Cummins in their 12 for a potential Shield debut, after his big impact on the Twenty20 competition.
Big-hitter David Warner replaces the injured Usman Khawaja.
Victoria will rest young paceman James Pattinson and dropped Alex Keath, as well as losing McDonald.
Glen Maxwell, fresh from scoring the fastest half-century in Australia's domestic one-day history, was added to the squad, along with Mark Cleary and Rogers.
