Teenage NSW fast bowler Patrick Cummins has continued his remarkable rise by being in line to make his Sheffield Shield debut, while David Warner has received a rare four-day call-up.

Just four weeks after playing his first game for the Blues in the Twenty20 competition and three days after making his one-day debut, 17-year-old Cummins was included in a 12-man squad for NSW's clash with Victoria at the MCG starting on Friday.

Cummins was particularly impressive during his six T20 matches, snaring 11 wickets and regularly bowling at speeds of over 145km/hr.

Warner is in line to play his first Shield match in over a year.

The 24-year-old left-hander's last first-class match was against Queensland at the SCG at the end of January, 2010, when he made scores of 13 and 0 batting at No.6.

Warner, who often expresses his annoyance at being pigeon-holed as a limited-overs specialist, replaces Usman Khawaja, who is still struggling to recover from a hamstring injury.

Left-arm wrist-spinner Beau Casson, who will also travel to Melbourne, has waited longer to be called up by the Blues.

After playing his only Test match for Australia against West indies in 2008, Casson's fall from grace continued and he last played a four-day match against his former state, Western Australia, at the end of 2009.

With Stephen O'Keefe still unavailable with a calf injury, Casson was included after some solid performances in the Sydney grade competition.

NSW squad: Stuart Clark (capt), Beau Casson, Trent Copeland, Scott Coyte, Pat Cummins, Peter Forrest, Moises Henriques, Phillip Hughes, Phil Jaques, Peter Nevill, Ben Rohrer, David Warner.
