The Panthers opened up a double digit lead before Newcastle rallied to hold a 22-16 advantage.

However, Penrith hit back with Jesse Sene-Lefao and Adrian Purtell both crossing for tries that were converted.

Penrith crossed the Newcastle line five times, with forward Kevin Kingston getting over twice.
